Insurance policies, 1904-1905.

Original insurance policies covering property administered by the adjutant general. Property included horses, armories, warehouses, and equipment. Also contains permission slips allowing the John E. Hurst & Company to store goods at the Fifth Regiment Armory after the Hurst Building was destroyed during the Great Baltimore Fire of February 1904. Arranged chronologically.

The Society of Maryland Guardsmen was formed in 1907 as an un-incorporated association of the officers of the Maryland National Guard. Apparently formed to lobby for a new militia law, which was promulgated in 1908, the society was inactive from 1909 to 1915, when it became defunct.
